I’m currently a Classics student, passionate about my subject and keen to communicate to others just how relevant Classics really can be. This is very important to me, since I think I’m the first person in my family to speak Latin since the Huguenots…
I’m not clear yet on what I want to do, but I’m interested in journalism, teaching, presenting, anything that I can really get my teeth into.
I hope this blog will be a good illustration of the exciting new dimension Classics can lend to modern life.
Welcome, Juliadomna, to the blogging world.
One way in which Classics can lend a new dimension: Latin is helpful if you want to understand the pronouncements of London’s new mayor.
Hi Julia,
I am contacting you from Australia… You were here during WYD and Catherine James interviewed you for a DVD which I an just finalising. It is called: WYD08 We Were There, The Journey Begins.
Catherine managed to track down your details for me.
Your interview was really good and I have incorporated some of it in the DVD. I would like to put your name, and also a brief outline of what you do professionally, and perhaps the name of the group you travelled with, if thats ok with you.
The DVD reflects positive things about WYD: I am hoping people will be interested in it. I want it to help young people in the faith.
I was very careful to include only things that I felt would be ok with people, so in your case, while there are things re your conversion, I haven’t used things that refer directly to your family.
Could you also send me your postal address so I can send you a copy of the DVD.
I feel as though I know you, after hearing what you had to say so many time!
This has been an interesting learning curve for me: It is the first major project I have done. I am a teacher by profession, and hope to develop in the area of media as there it can help people in so many ways if it is used well.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Anne-Marie Irwin
